Job Description:

Charles River Development is a front- and middle-office software solutions provider offering portfolio construction and management, compliance, order and execution management, post-trade processing, collateral management, investment book of records, risk, and performance measurement and attribution. Charles River users need consistent, accurate and timely data to make investment decisions and efficient, streamlined workflows to get the most out of the Charles River IMS.

Director, Data Products, is a senior role in Product Management helping drive product design, development, and market demand. This role will be responsible for ensuring Charles River Development’s data-related products and services are successful in the market. The Director will interact with clients, the sales team, vendors, and other market participants to stay abreast of needs and opportunities. The role involves overseeing multiple product teams within the department.


  • Works in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, applying expertise in industry best practices to deliver a high quality product
  • Leads and sets direction for multiple data-related teams
  • Performs market analysis and builds product plans
  • Responds to RFPs and assists in sales situations
  • Works with data vendors to ensure successful partnerships and data provisioning
  • Gathers requirements from internal & external parties (clients, partners, vendors, etc.)
  • Prepares product impact assessment, reviews with engineering groups, and estimates effort
  • Summarizes the task for wider internal & external reviews and funding decisions
  • Analyzes priorities, maintains the product calendar and works with engineering to ensure that development calendar is progressing according to plan
  • Reviews development process on an ongoing basis
  • Reviews the QA and documentation process on an ongoing basis
  • Prepares product literature and placement strategy
  • Speaks at public events or author industry articles as appropriate
  • Coordinates training and support resources
  • Partners with operations to ensure successful solution delivery

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree, ideally in a Technology or Financial discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in the investment industry supporting investment management teams from a data perspective
  • Good understanding of financial investment products across all asset classes, especially fixed income
  • Understanding of investment management workflows highly desirable
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), good interpersonal skills, ability to gather and understand requirements in the financial sector
  • Effective organizational and planning skills with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously and deal with the inevitable surprises that are part of a dynamic environment
  • Experience with any of the following highly preferred:
    • Data management verification/validation tools
    • Security master development
    • Data provisioning (i.e., market data interfaces)
    • Enterprise data warehouses
