Sweden’s IPM Informed Portfolio Management Live on Charles River IMS
Phase One implementation automates workflows; creates seamless interfaces with external providers
Boston, London, Beijing, Melbourne, New York, Paris, Singapore and Tokyo – February 11, 2010 – Charles River Development (Charles River), a front- and middle-office investment software solutions provider, today announced that IPM Informed Portfolio Management (IPM), a Stockholm-based investment manager with over US$8 billion in assets under management, is live on the Charles River Investment Management System (Charles River IMS). Users across IPM’s equities, futures and foreign exchange operations now benefit from automated decision support, compliance and streamlined trade order management on a single, consolidated platform.
The Phase One implementation, completed on-time and on-budget, supports IPM’s strategy of automating processes to prepare for increased trade volumes and future growth. Key to IPM’s selection of Charles River IMS was the system’s use of multiple technologies – including XML messaging, web services and flat files – which makes it easy for IPM to connect seamlessly with its various modeling, custom algorithm and data systems, and back-office providers. Charles River’s implementation experts built interfaces between Charles River IMS and IPM’s modeling systems, including those for importing futures and forward FX orders. The team also built a two-way interface that automatically exports IPM’s existing account positions to portfolio decision support providers, and imports optimized positions back into Charles River IMS. During Phase Two, IPM will implement the Charles River Network for real-time global electronic trading via FIX (Financial Information eXchange).
“With Charles River IMS, we have a sophisticated approach to meet our growth objectives, and better serve our diverse clients who range from small foundations to large sovereign funds,” said Stefan Detlof, Executive Vice President at IPM. “As volumes increase, our streamlined investment process can automatically bring in orders, check for compliance and execute and forward trades to our back office.”
“Charles River IMS supports IPM’s strategies with automation, extensive integration and greater control over workflows,” said Jon Steward, Managing Director, EMEA, Charles River Development. “Following the implementation of the Charles River FIX Network, IPM will also have a fully integrated platform for connecting with their brokers of choice.”
Charles River serves over 300 diverse investment management clients worldwide, including 80 firms across 17 European countries.
