Privately-held, Charles River was founded in 1984 as a software consulting and application engineering firm. The extensive methodology, relational database and applications development experience acquired in the company's early years provided the foundation for the design and development of Charles River's current product suite. The company’s award-winning products and services continue to lead the global investment management systems industry.

Charles River releases DataStation, a Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tool, to support rapid application development

1995

Charles River introduces ComplianceMaster, a commercialized version of the product

1998

Charles River releases its first order management system (OMS), the Charles River Trading System

2000

• London and Singapore offices open

• Charles River releases its portfolio management tool, Manager Workbench

2003

• Charles River begins providing hosting services for Charles River IMS

• Charles River introduces extensive capabilities for mortgage trading and TBA processing

2004

• Asia-Pacific office in Melbourne opens

2005

• Paris office opens

• Charles River introduces the Charles River Network, a global communications network for equity, fixed income and foreign exchange FIX trading

• Charles River launches ComplianceAnywhere, allowing users to monitor, manage, and resolve investment compliance breaches in real-time from a wireless device

Charles River Post-Trade is released providing centralized management of trade matching, confirmation, and settlement workflow

Charles River expands mortgage / TBA capabilities

• Charles River Anywhere, a new web portal, extends the reach of the Charles River Investment Management System and offers personalized content anywhere, anytime
