Senior Revenue Accountant (Professional Services)
Working closely with the Manager of Revenue Accounting and Billing and Corporate Controller, you will be responsible for the global accounting and reporting for professional services revenue streams as well as oversight of Pro Serve invoicing, and related processes.
Responsibilities:
- Understand customer contracts with respect to professional services exhibits and schedules – SOW, billing rates, staff assigned, fixed fees, etc.
- Maintain accounting information in the ERP system – Tiers, rates, etc.
- Collaborate with the Professional Services Administrative Assistant and Practice Administrator regarding the timely and accurate entry of billable hours into the ERP system and the resulting Project Cost Summary (PCS) report approval.
- Perform accruals and related accounting analysis and reconciliations for all Professional Services revenue streams
- Generate and review billable time utilization reports and communicate to managers.
- Review and approve Pro Serve client billing to ensure proper, accurate, and timely invoice preparation and resolution of discrepancies
- Perform percent of completion accounting around fixed price contracts.
- Perform related general ledger account analysis/reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
- Perform analysis around revenue by client, region and category, interpret results and communicate upwards.
- Collaborate with Finance and other teams in the evaluation and implementation of system improvements/changes with the ERP system.
- Act as the business unit’s partner to help them increase profitability, effectiveness and overall improvement in business performance
- Identify operational and finance issues in the Services business and communicate accordingly to management while driving solutions.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 or more years of professional experience, with a portion of the experience in a professional services or software business.
- Experience with accounting applications including invoicing or sales order processing modules Great Plains experience a plus.
- Experience with revenue accruals and journal entries, knowledge of SOP 97-2, a plus.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, Excel, Word
- Careful attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently while achieving deadlines
- Must possess a can-do attitude and be a team player
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment. Ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
