Professional Services Accountant
Working closely with the Revenue and Receivables Manager, you will provide oversight on professional services time and expense submission and invoicing, calculate revenue accruals and related accounting entries and analysis and assist with customer invoicing.
Responsibilities:
- Understand customer contracts with respect to professional services exhibits and schedules – bill rates, staff assigned, fixed fees, etc.
- Maintain accounting information in the ERP system – Tiers, rates, etc.
- Collaborate with the Professional Services Administrative Assistant regarding the timely and accurate entry of billable hours into the ERP system.
- Collaborate with the Professional Services Administrative Assistant regarding the timely and accurate approval of the Project Cost Summary (PCS) reports which serves as the basis for professional services client invoices.
- Generate and review billable time utilization reports and communicate to managers.
- Assist client billing to ensure proper, accurate, and timely invoice preparation and resolution of discrepancies.
- Perform percent of completion accounting around fixed price contracts.
- Perform general ledger account analysis/reconciliations and journal entry preparation.
- Perform analysis around revenue by client, region and category.
- Collaborate with Finance and other teams in the evaluation and implementation of system improvements/changes with the ERP system.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance.
- 5 or more years of professional experience, with a portion of the experience in a professional services or software business.
- Experience with accounting applications including invoicing or sales order processing modules Great Plains experience a plus.
- Experience with revenue accruals and journal entries, knowledge of SOP 97-2, a plus.
- Strong computer skills including MS Office, Excel, Word
- Careful attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently while achieving deadlines.
- Must possess a can-do attitude and be a team player.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment. Ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
