Sales Engineer

Charles River Development (CRD) is a rapidly growing and profitable financial software and services firm whose customers include the world’s top investment management, wealth management, banking and insurance firms. The Sales Engineer or Product Specialist leads the pre-sales effort to educate the prospects in the use, features and benefits of the Charles River Investment Management System.
 
Charles River is currently looking for a Sales Engineer to operate out of our Beijing office.
 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Managing Director, Asia Pacific, this role involves enhancing CRD’s regional footprint and Sales pipeline through product demonstrations and targeted sales events and tradeshows. A core component is software demonstration and enthusiastic product presentation. Additionally, he or she works closely with the outside sales person to insure all product, workflow, and best practice questions and objections are thoroughly addressed.   This is a senior role and the sales engineer must be perceived as highly creditable and knowledgeable on both the investment industry and the Charles River product set. The role is based in our Beijing office and involve demonstrating Charles River products to many of the world’s most significant investment management, wealth management, banking and insurance companies.
 
The role requires the successful applicant to allocate time as follows:
·         50% Preparation and detailed product presentation and demonstration to highly sophisticated investment professionals
·         20% Follow up with prospects to close out any unanswered questions or objections
·         10% Represent CRD at conferences and trade show exhibits
·         10% Coordinate or assist in general prospect  visits or product test pilot projects
·         10% Assist with RFP or request for information preparation
·         50%+  Asia-Pacific Regional Travel
 
 

Requirements

·         Must have technical acumen to understand requirements and objections, and to articulate CRD advantages. 
·         A technical degree in EE, CS or equiv. is highly desirable.
·         Bachelors Degree from a leading university or college in Business Management, Economics, Finance, Computer Science or the like.
·         Experience in the financial industry mandatory.
·         Minimum of 8 years of Financial / Software Services industry background with financial market information systems preferred.
·         Front Office and instrument-type knowledge across equities, fixed income, derivatives, FX etc 
·         Must have strong knowledge of the market practices/conventions of one or more of the following areas: Equity Securities, Fixed Income Securities, Derivatives or Currency
·         Practical experience in securities trading, portfolio management, investment IT, or product management a plus
·         Must be able to demonstrate an ability to meet self-imposed deadlines posses proactive sales management skills, and a track record of balancing the demands of multiple competing situations.
·         Fostered relationships with senior market practitioners in large and small corporations.
·         Superior oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. 
·         Strong analytical skills. 
·         Able to differentiate and work at strategic and tactical levels simultaneously.
·         Excellent presentation skills particularly to large and complex audiences
·         Consultative presentation and selling style
·         Comfortable with PC technology and general applications
·         Must have solid general investment industry knowledge across multiple asset classes
·         Must have strong knowledge in one or more of the following areas: portfolio management, trading, investment accounting, performance measurement, compliance and/or trade settlement.
·         Preferably has experience in pre-sales or sales with complex investment management systems
